1. Haunted Hamburger

The Haunted Hamburger is the most-visited restaurant in Jerome — a casual American grill in a two-story building on Main Street with Verde Valley views from the upper deck. The green chile cheeseburger is the signature dish: hand-formed patty, roasted green chiles, and a slightly smoky char. The sweet potato fries are legitimately good. The onion rings are also worth ordering.
Lunch is the busy meal. Dinner (open until 9 PM most nights) is significantly more relaxed. The upper deck is the best table in Jerome on a clear day — the Verde Valley drops 1,500 feet below you.

2. The Asylum Restaurant
The Lowdown Verdict: Jerome's best fine dining. Located inside the Jerome Grand Hotel with the best interior views in town. Make a reservation for dinner — it fills quickly on weekends.
The Asylum is the Jerome Grand Hotel's restaurant — named with the same dark wit as everything else in a former hospital. It serves New American cuisine with locally-sourced ingredients where possible, and the Verde Valley wine list is one of the best curated lists you'll find at altitude in Arizona. The terrace at sunset is exceptional.
Lunch is more casual. Dinner is where it shines: rotating seasonal entrees (lamb shank in fall, lighter dishes in spring), strong cocktail program, and attentive service. The building context — a 1927 hospital with documented paranormal history — makes dinner here a full experience, not just a meal.

3. Mile High Grill
The Lowdown Verdict: Solid breakfast and lunch option when the Haunted Hamburger has a line. Patio seating, casual menu, good eggs Benedict. Not destination dining but consistently reliable.
Mile High Grill serves breakfast and lunch daily on Main Street, with a small patio. It's the best place in Jerome for a sit-down breakfast — the migas (scrambled eggs with tortilla chips, chile, and cheese) and the breakfast burrito are both strong. Lunch leans toward sandwiches and salads. If the Haunted Hamburger wait is discouraging, this is where to go.
4. Flatiron Cafe
The Lowdown Verdict: Best coffee in Jerome. Small, cash-preferred, genuine espresso drinks. The breakfast sandwich on sourdough is the quick-meal option if you want something before touring.
The Flatiron Cafe is a small coffee-and-light-food spot near the corner of Main Street and Hull Avenue. It's the opposite of the Asylum in every way — casual, unpretentious, counter-service, and genuinely good coffee. The breakfast sandwiches (egg, cheese, and choice of meat on sourdough) are the best quick-eat option in Jerome. Lines move fast.
The Spirit Room — Best Bar in Jerome
The Lowdown Verdict: Go on a weeknight after 8 PM. Live music Friday–Sunday. This is one of Jerome's genuinely great bars — with one of the town's most documented paranormal reputations on top of that.
The Spirit Room is the bar at the Connor Hotel, open daily and one of Jerome's most consistent anchor experiences. It's a proper bar — dark wood, old photographs, taxidermy — with local Arizona beers on draft and a well-stocked back bar. Live music on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday typically starts at 8 PM.
The paranormal context is real: the Spirit Room is one of Jerome's documented locations with consistent staff and guest accounts. Read the haunted history guide before your visit. It makes a drink here considerably more interesting.
